Welcome to our SDG series: SDG-1 No Poverty

SDG 1

The 17 SDGs are not just ideals; they are our shared vision for a brighter future, revealing the incredible ways companies are making a difference to our planet and our society.

What we have discovered is that the Sustainable Development Goals are not always easily relatable to a business context, in the way that ESG does. Therefore our SDG- Series is here to guide you through the 17 SDGs in a business context.

Unilever is a global consumer goods company and is dedicated to addressing SDG 1 – “End poverty in all its forms everywhere.’’
Unilever does this by ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions for its employees and suppliers worldwide, contributing to poverty reduction. They source raw materials like tea, cocoa, and palm oil sustainably, which benefits smallholder farmers in developing countries, helping them improve their livelihoods. Therefore Unilever supports several community development projects, such as women’s empowerment programs and agricultural training, to help people in impoverished areas create sustainable incomes.
Unilever’s real-life examples show their commitment to SDG 1 through various initiatives, making it clear how companies can contribute to reduce poverty and at the same time boost their profits.

How can your company contribute to SDG-1?
