Hilton Hotels contributes significantly to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11); Sustainable cities and communities by actively pursuing sustainable practices across its operations and engaging in various initiatives that align with the goal of creating inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements.

One of the primary ways Hilton contributes to SDG 11 is through its commitment to sustainable operations. The company focuses on reducing its environmental impact by implementing measures to decrease water and energy consumption, minimize waste generation, and adopt eco-friendly technologies such as LED lighting and efficient HVAC systems.

Moreover, Hilton prioritizes sustainable building practices by constructing and renovating hotels according to green building standards like LEED certification. This approach involves using environmentally friendly materials and designs, thereby reducing the carbon footprint associated with hotel construction and operations.

Hilton therefore acknowledges the significant influence their hotels can have on the environment within their operational areas. Through the introduction of “Travel with Purpose,” their corporate responsibility strategy, Hilton aims to revolutionize and promote sustainable travel practices on a global scale. This initiative involves checking and sharing the environmental and social impact across Hilton’s vast network of 5,600+ hotels and suppliers. They use LightStay (their system for measuring corporate responsibility) to do this.
