Welcome to our SDG series: SDG 4 - quality education

SDG 4

Welcome to a new week, where we highlight another company that is dedicated to contribute to the SDG-goals. This week is about SDG-4 – Quality Education featuring LEGO.

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 aims to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. What might surprise you is that LEGO, the well-known toy manufacturer, contributes to this goal in several ways;

LEGO produces a range of educational products and sets, such as LEGO Education, which are designed to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning. These products can be used in schools, after-school programs, and by parents to enhance children’s educational experiences. Moreover, LEGO promotes a “learning through play” philosophy.

Building with LEGO bricks encourages creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor skills development, all of which are critical for early childhood education. They actively encourage the integration of play into educational practices, using their iconic building bricks as a tool.

LEGO strives to create products that are inclusive and can be enjoyed by children of all backgrounds and abilities. For example, they have developed specialised building sets and tools, such as LEGO Braille Bricks, to support visually impaired children in learning and playing with LEGO.

This commitment to accessibility ensures that children with various needs can engage with LEGO products and benefit from educational play. LEGO’s products are available worldwide, making their educational materials and tools accessible to a broad range of learners, contributing to the global reach of SDG 4.

Stay tuned for next week to discover which company we will be highlighting for Gender Equality (SDG 5).
